On June 19, 2026, the adhan — the Islamic call to prayer — was broadcast outdoors from Regina City Jamia Masjid for the first time, under a noise-amplification permit. The call echoed openly through the downtown streets of Regina. It was a moment of profound joy and spiritual expression.
Within days, the threats began. Hate messages targeted the mosque, its congregation, and anyone willing to stand alongside them. The threats were credible — serious enough that law enforcement could not ignore them.
On June 23, the Regina Police Service deployed patrols outside the mosque. Not because anything unlawful had occurred — but because exercising a fundamental Charter right had made a community a target. Canada had to answer.

Section 2(a) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees every person the freedom of conscience and religion. One Call, One Canada demands that this freedom be honoured — not just in law, but in every street, neighbourhood, and community across this country.
We believe that Canada's strength is its diversity. This movement was born in Regina, but it belongs to every Canadian who believes that the right to practice your faith openly — peacefully — is sacred.
Beyond July 4, we are building a coalition: interfaith, intercultural, and unafraid. We call on Muslim and non-Muslim Canadians alike to stand together and say clearly: this is our Canada too.

Regina City Jamia Masjid serves the Muslim community of Saskatchewan from the heart of Regina's downtown. It is a place of worship, community gathering, education, and interfaith dialogue — open to all who seek understanding.
The mosque is building a new facility to meet the growing needs of its community. The new building will serve not just Muslims, but the entire fabric of Regina — a centre for learning, dialogue, and belonging.
